New Milford, NJ (August 29, 2026) – A 12-year-old riding a scooter was critically injured on Friday afternoon, August 28, after being struck by a Toyota Highlander on Reichelt Rd in New Milford. Another boy who was walking also suffered injuries in the crash.
The collision happened around 2 p.m. on Reichelt Rd between River Rd and Pacific St. The scooter-riding boy suffered a serious head injury despite wearing a helmet, authorities said.
Both boys were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where their parents were present. The 57-year-old New Milford driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
Authorities are still investigating.
