Fatal Accident at Bayway Chemical Plant Near Park & Brunswick Aves

Linden, NJ (January 21, 2026) – A fatal industrial accident claimed the life of a 71-year-old Woodbridge man on Monday, January 19, before 2:00 p.m., at a property near the corner of Park and Brunswick Avenues in Linden.

According to Linden police, the victim was a private subcontractor and a resident of the Iselin section of Woodbridge. His identity has not been released by officials. Authorities said the accident occurred at Infineum’s Bayway Chemical Plant, a lubricant additive production facility, where the man was loading a bulk liquid container.

Investigators stated that the man was found deceased inside a 6,000-gallon bulk liquid container that was being filled with mineral oil at the time of the incident. Personnel from the Bayway and Linden fire departments removed the man from the tanker, and unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

All parties involved are cooperating with the investigation being conducted by the Linden Police Detective Bureau. A separate, independent investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is also underway. The incident remains under investigation.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the victim’s family, friends, and loved ones during this challenging time.

Can a Lawyer Help After a Fatal Industrial Accident in Linden?

A lawyer experienced in workplace and industrial accident cases in Linden can help review the circumstances surrounding the incident. This may include examining safety procedures, equipment conditions, training requirements, and whether any safety violations or negligence contributed to the accident.

In cases involving subcontractors, multiple parties may share responsibility, making legal guidance especially important when liability is unclear.

Families may be entitled to pursue compensation through workers’ compensation benefits, third-party injury claims, or wrongful death actions, depending on the facts of the case. Compensation may help cover funeral and burial expenses, loss of financial support, medical costs incurred before death, and other damages resulting from the loss of a loved one.

Investigations by local authorities can play a key role in determining what happened, but these processes do not always address a family’s financial needs. A lawyer can help interpret investigation findings, gather supporting evidence, and explain how they may impact a potential claim and the path forward.
