Woodbridge, NJ (September 8, 2026) – At least one person was hurt after a box truck and a blue Hyundai Elantra collided on the southbound New Jersey Turnpike in Woodbridge on Monday, September 7. The collision happened around 6:38 a.m. near milepost 92.9 and the Thomas Edison Service Area.

Emergency medical crews were requested to assist those involved after the crash.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the wreck.

Our thoughts are with the injured person as they recover.

Who Can Be Held Liable for a Truck Crash in Woodbridge, NJ?

Depending on the facts, a truck driver, trucking company, vehicle owner, maintenance provider, cargo-loading company, or another motorist may be liable for your truck crash in Woodbridge. In some cases, more than one party may share responsibility.

In many cases, evidence can help show how the crash occurred and who may be at fault. Crash reports, photographs, vehicle damage, video footage, and information from the truck may help support your account of the collision.

A careful review of these materials can also reveal whether the driver followed company rules, whether the truck was properly maintained, and whether another vehicle contributed to the crash.

Under New Jersey’s comparative negligence rule, fault may be divided among the people involved. If you are found more than 50% responsible for the crash, you generally cannot recover damages from the other parties.

When the truck driver was working at the time of the collision, the employer may also become part of the claim. The driver’s job duties, the company’s control over the work, and vehicle ownership may affect who can be held responsible.

Because commercial trucks may carry larger or multiple insurance policies, more than one insurer could become involved in your claim. Determining which policies apply can become especially important when several parties may share responsibility.

Before records are lost or deleted, preserving information connected to the truck may also matter. Electronic data, company records, maintenance documents, and available video may provide details that are difficult to recover later.

If an insurance company disputes responsibility or challenges your claim, a Woodbridge truck accident lawyer can review the facts and communicate with the insurer. An attorney can also identify other parties that may be liable under New Jersey law.
