Driver Injured After Dislodged Tire Strikes Car on Rt 1 in South Brunswick, NJ

South Brunswick, NJ (August 31, 2026) – A 59-year-old woman was seriously injured on Sunday, August 30, after a tire became dislodged from another vehicle and struck her car on Route 1 in South Brunswick, according to police.

The woman was traveling southbound between Beekman Road and Sand Hills Road when the tire reportedly came off a northbound vehicle. The tire bounced over the concrete median and struck the windshield of her sedan, causing her vehicle to crash.

Emergency workers spent approximately 30 minutes extricating the woman from the vehicle. She was transported to a hospital with serious injuries and was expected to survive. The other driver, a 19-year-old from East Windsor, was not injured and received a summons for failure to maintain a vehicle.
