Harrison, NJ (August 16, 2026) – A passenger lost their life early Sunday morning, August 16, in a fatal single-vehicle crash along Interstate 280 in Harrison.
New Jersey State Police troopers and emergency medical services were dispatched to the westbound lanes near milepost 15.2 around 2:35 a.m.
Preliminary investigation stated that a 24-year-old Newark man was driving a Honda westbound when he lost control of the vehicle. The automobile ran off the right side of the highway, struck a traffic sign support, and then collided with multiple trees.
Emergency medical personnel evaluated both occupants at the scene. The front-seat passenger sustained fatal trauma in the series of impacts and was pronounced deceased. The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a regional hospital for emergency treatment.
The crash remains under active investigation by state police.
