The Union Fire and emergency units arrived and treated the injured driver at the scene. A fluid spill from one of the vehicles was also noted.

The investigation into what caused the collision remains ongoing.

We hope the injured driver has a full recovery.

Why Prompt Medical Evaluation Matters After a Crash in Union, NJ

Getting evaluated quickly after a crash does more than address immediate pain. It creates a medical record that directly ties any injury to the crash itself, which becomes essential if a claim is filed later. Without that early documentation, insurance companies can argue that an injury developed from some other cause or wasn't as serious as claimed, even when the person genuinely was hurt.

Some injuries, including internal bruising, soft tissue damage, and certain chest injuries, don't always produce obvious symptoms right away. A person might feel only mild discomfort at the scene, only to develop worsening pain or complications over the following days.

Waiting to seek treatment doesn't just risk a person's health; it also creates gaps in the medical timeline that can be used to question whether an injury is genuinely connected to the crash.

New Jersey's verbal threshold rule limits recovery for pain and suffering unless an injury meets specific severity requirements, and consistent, well-documented medical treatment is often what allows an injury to meet that standard.

A single emergency room visit with no follow-up care can suggest an injury wasn't serious, even if that's not actually true. Because of this, personal injury lawyers usually encourage clients to follow through with recommended follow-up appointments, physical therapy, or specialist referrals, since gaps in treatment can be used against a claim later on.

Medical records also serve as the foundation for calculating both current and future costs tied to an injury, including ongoing treatment, lost wages during recovery, and any long-term care needs.
