Authorities are investigating what caused the crash.

Our thoughts are with the four people hurt as they begin their recovery.

What Compensation Can I Recover as an Injured Passenger After a Crash in Summit, NJ?

If you were injured as a passenger in a Summit crash, you may recover compensation for medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, and other losses. You may have claims against one or more drivers. Multiple insurance policies may also provide coverage.

As your recovery begins, some injuries may become more noticeable after the initial shock fades. Back pain, concussion symptoms, and shoulder injuries can worsen over several days. Prompt medical care and complete records can help document how the crash affected your health.

Across Union County, Springfield Avenue, Morris Avenue, and Broad Street carry traffic through Summit and toward Route 24. Short ramps and crowded merge points can leave drivers with little room to react. Investigators must examine the evidence to determine what caused the collision.

Depending on the circumstances, you may have a claim against the driver of the vehicle you occupied or another driver involved in the crash. If more than one driver contributed to the wreck, multiple liability policies may provide coverage. Each insurer may dispute responsibility or the value of your losses.

Under New Jersey’s no-fault rules, personal injury protection generally covers initial medical expenses regardless of fault. You may also bring a claim against an at-fault driver. Pain and suffering compensation may depend on the severity of your injuries.

With several policies potentially involved, your passenger claim can become difficult to manage. A lawyer can identify available coverage, gather evidence, and communicate with the insurers. Legal guidance can also help determine whether a proposed settlement fairly covers your losses.

Injured passengers often face difficult insurance questions while recovering. Our team at the Law Offices of Sander Budanitsky can review available coverage, explain how New Jersey law may apply, and help you determine your next step.
