Ocean County, NJ (August 14, 2026) – Multiple people were injured in a serious multi-vehicle crash that closed the southbound Garden State Parkway at Exit 82 in Ocean County.
The crash prompted a full closure of Parkway South at Exit 82 on Thursday afternoon, August 13. Traffic backed up for more than 10 miles as the closure affected motorists traveling through the area.
The New Jersey Police did not provide any information on the total number of people hurt, the severity of their injuries, or details about the vehicles involved.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
We hope those injured have a steady recovery.
When several vehicles are involved in a New Jersey crash, determining each driver's share of fault can become an important part of a personal injury claim. New Jersey allows injured parties to recover damages as long as their degree of fault does not exceed that of the defendants, with any financial award reduced proportionally by their responsibility.
That analysis can become more complicated when a chain of impacts involves several drivers. Evidence such as photographs, vehicle damage, medical records, witness accounts, traffic-camera footage, and available roadway records may help establish how the sequence unfolded.
The condition of each vehicle and the timing of each movement may also matter when fault is disputed. A personal injury lawyer can examine the available evidence and determine whether another driver's conduct, or the combined actions of multiple drivers, may have contributed to a person's injuries.
