Common Causes of Crashes in Elizabeth
Traffic collisions are common throughout Elizabeth, particularly at busy intersections such as East Grand Street and Catherine Street, where local traffic, commuters, and commercial vehicles converge. These areas experience frequent stop-and-go traffic, turning movements, and pedestrian activity, all of which increase the likelihood of accidents.
Congestion during evening hours and holiday periods often heightens the risk of side-impact and intersection-related crashes, as drivers may rush to reach destinations or misjudge traffic gaps.
Driver distraction remains a leading factor in many urban accidents, including the use of mobile phones, navigation systems, or other in-vehicle technology. Even a momentary lapse in attention can lead to serious collisions, especially at intersections where multiple traffic directions intersect.
Failure to yield the right of way, improper left or right turns, and speeding through yellow or red lights also contribute significantly to injury-causing crashes. Aggressive driving behaviors, such as tailgating or sudden lane changes, further elevate the risk.
Poor visibility during nighttime hours can compound these dangers. Reduced lighting, glare from headlights, and adverse weather conditions can make it harder for drivers to see other vehicles, pedestrians, or traffic signals.
Victims injured in motor vehicle accidents often face substantial medical expenses, lost income from time away from work, and long-term recovery challenges. Injuries may require ongoing treatment, physical therapy, or rehabilitation, creating additional financial and emotional strain.
Understanding your legal rights following a crash is an important step toward protecting your health and financial future.
