Pickup Overturns After Early Morning Crash on I-78
July 30, 2026

Union, NJ (July 30, 2026) – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 78 in Union on Wednesday morning, July 29. The collision was reported at about 5:41 a.m. in the westbound lanes near milepost 53.

Authorities reported a Jeep SUV was entering I-78 westbound from the Garden State Parkway southbound entrance ramp when the driver lost control and struck a Toyota pickup traveling on the highway. The impact pushed the pickup forward and caused it to overturn.

Emergency units arrived shortly after the crash was reported and assisted those involved. Crews worked around the damaged vehicles while medical personnel evaluated the occupants.

The Toyota pickup driver and a passenger in the Jeep sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

The names and ages of the two injured people were not included in the initial details released about the crash.

The New Jersey State Police continue to investigate what caused the Jeep driver to lose control.

We hope both injured individuals make a full recovery.

Should I See a Doctor After a Minor Crash in Union, NJ?

Yes, after even a minor crash, you should see a doctor despite feeling fine. Adrenaline can briefly mask pain, stiffness, dizziness, or other symptoms. Prompt care also creates a record showing when your concerns began.

As the initial shock fades, injuries may become easier to recognize. Neck strain, concussion symptoms, and soft tissue damage can appear hours or days later. Mild soreness may develop into pain that affects sleep, work, or movement.

Across Union’s busiest commuter corridors, merging traffic adds risk. Interstate 78 connects with the Garden State Parkway near Route 22, Vauxhall Road, Morris Avenue, and Springfield Avenue. Early-morning congestion and short entrance ramps can leave drivers little room to adjust.

After your medical evaluation, keep every document you receive. Discharge papers, imaging results, prescriptions, bills, and follow-up instructions can show what doctors found and recommended. These records may help connect your symptoms to the crash.

Under New Jersey’s no-fault system, personal injury protection generally covers medical expenses regardless of who caused the collision. You should notify your insurer promptly and follow its requirements. Delayed treatment or missing paperwork may complicate your care and insurance review.

When insurance questions begin piling up, you may struggle to understand which policy applies or whether your bills exceed available limits. A lawyer can review the coverage, organize records, and explain your options before you accept an insurer’s decision.

At the Law Offices of Sander Budanitsky, we know how quickly a “minor” collision can turn into weeks of appointments, missed work, and insurance paperwork. We can explain what your medical records may mean and what options may be available.

Even if your injuries seem minor after a crash in Union, you can call our personal injury lawyers at (908) 241-3445 with your questions. We are happy to discuss what a claim may involve and what your next step could look like.
