What Compensation Can I Recover After a Car Crash in Union Township, NJ?

After a crash in Union Township, you may recover compensation for medical bills, lost wages, property damage, and pain and suffering in some cases. New Jersey follows a no-fault system, so personal injury protection generally covers initial medical expenses regardless of who caused the collision.

As treatment moves forward, the full extent of a back injury may become clearer. Muscle strains, spinal injuries, and soft tissue damage may not cause immediate symptoms after a highway crash. Medical records can connect treatment, missed work, and other losses to the accident.

Whether a crash happens on the Garden State Parkway, Route 22, Morris Avenue, or I-78, determining fault isn't always simple. These high-traffic roads are known for frequent merging, sudden lane changes, and stop-and-go traffic near exits, creating situations where multiple factors (and sometimes multiple driver) contribute to a collision.

When pain and suffering become an issue, a driver’s right-to-sue selection may affect the compensation available. A limited right to sue generally requires an injury to meet a legal threshold. An unlimited right to sue does not impose the same requirement.

Since highway crashes happen quickly, insurers may rely on photographs, vehicle damage, driver statements, roadway evidence, and available video footage. Conflicting accounts can make responsibility harder to establish. Preserving evidence early can support a claim.

After the first medical bills arrive, additional costs may include follow-up care, therapy, transportation, and time away from work. These losses may be included when records connect them to the crash. Careful documentation can show the financial effect of an injury.

As insurance issues become more complicated, a lawyer can review the available coverage, examine the evidence, and explain which damages may be recoverable. That review may also identify insurance coverage that you might otherwise overlook.
