Wrong-Way Crash on Morris Ave Kills One
June 26, 2026

Union, NJ (June 26, 2026) – On Thursday evening, June 25, a multi-vehicle crash left a woman dead on Morris Avenue that began with a series of collisions before ending in a head-on impact near Colonial Avenue.

The crashes happened around 5 p.m., according to the Union Police Department. A Dodge Charger driven by a 71-year-old Union resident struck multiple vehicles between a nearby shopping center and gas station, causing minor property damage but no injuries at that point.

The Charger then continued eastbound in the westbound lanes of Morris Avenue at a high rate of speed before colliding head-on with a Toyota Prius near Colonial Avenue. The Prius driver, a 66-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

A third vehicle, a Subaru driven by a 24-year-old Union resident, was also struck. That driver suffered minor injuries.

The Charger's driver was hospitalized and remains under observation. Morris Avenue was closed for several hours on Thursday evening while police investigated.

The investigation into the wreck remains ongoing.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the woman who lost her life.

What Legal Issues Arise When One Crash Leads to Multiple Collisions in Union, NJ?

When a single driver causes a chain of separate collisions, each affected driver may have a distinct claim depending on the extent of harm they suffered, even if some of the earlier strikes caused only minor damage.

New Jersey's wrongful death statute gives a personal representative of the estate two years from the date of death to file a claim, typically on behalf of a surviving spouse, children, or other dependents, while a separate survival action can address the pain and losses the victim experienced before they died. A personal injury lawyer would likely need to review evidence from each collision point separately to determine how liability and damages should be allocated among the affected drivers.
